What is Grace?

What is Grace? We say grace before our meals, we name our daughters Grace, we ask for grace yet do we really know what grace means?

I pondered the meaning of grace last year during the month of June.  The best and simplest definition I could come up with was grace equals God’s goodness.  Amazingly simple, yet profound.  Grace means God’s goodness.  God’s goodness… Think about that.  What ways have you experienced God’s goodness, God’s grace in your life?

We see a swan swimming, we watch a ballerina, we see someone handle themselves in difficult circumstances with composure and assurance and know that we have observed grace.

We hear the song "Amazing Grace" often.  It was written by John Newton in the 1700's, he was involved in the slave trade and through a series of events cried out to God to save him.  Here are the famous words he penned.  This song is one of the most recognizable songs about grace.  I'm including the words here for you lovely one.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now I'm found.

Was blind but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear

And grace my fears relieved.

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed.

When we've been there ten thousand years

Bright shining as the sun

We've no less days to sing God's praise

Then when we first begun.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost, but now I'm found.

Was blind, but now I see

My wish for you beautiful one is that you find grace easily today.  May grace, God’s goodness surround you every step of the way.  I invite you lovely one, to take a few minutes to ponder the question, how have I experienced God’s goodness, God’s grace in my life?

With so much love, joy and peace.
